Are there any long term effects of incontinence?

Yes, without proper management, there can be many long-term and chronic effects of leakage. Some are medical, like a higher risk of urinary tract infections. Other effects are psychological. When a person's fear of leakage takes over, that can lead to depression and social isolation, resulting in a lower quality of life. With the right incontinence treatment, however, all of these effects can be avoided or at least limited. Talk to your healthcare provider to find the right plan for your specific type of incontinence.
