Do I need to wash the patient with every change?

Whenever you change a patient's product, some form of skin care is required to prevent odor, infection, and skin irritation. Even if the skin appears clean and dry, the ammonia left behind by urine can irritate and damage the skin. Be sure to clean the perineal area thoroughly. Disposable adult washcloths are an excellent solution for easy clean-up, especially when on the go.
